Finding the right fit in a western boot is different from a regular shoe. Cowboy boots typically fit snugly at first and break in over time — here's everything you need to know to get the right size from the start.

Width Guide
Western boots come in standard widths. Here's what the width codes mean:
- B (Narrow) — Slim fit, ideal for narrow feet
- D (Standard/Medium) — The most common width for men
- EE or 2E (Wide) — Extra room across the ball of the foot
Ariat boots are available in both D and EE widths. If you're between widths, size up in width rather than length.
How to Measure Your Foot
- Place a piece of paper on a hard floor and stand on it with your full weight
- Trace the outline of your foot with a pencil held vertically
- Measure the longest distance from heel to toe in inches or centimeters
- Compare to the size chart above — if between sizes, size up
Western Boot Fit Tips
- New boots should feel snug — they will stretch and conform to your foot over time
- Your heel should slip slightly when new — about ¼ to ½ inch. This is normal and will reduce as the boot breaks in
- Toe room matters — your longest toe should have about ½ inch of space from the end of the boot
- Exotic leather boots (ostrich, python) may require slightly more break-in time than full-grain leather
- Shaft fit — the shaft should fit comfortably around your calf without pinching
Brand-Specific Sizing Notes
- Ariat — True to size. Available in D and EE widths. StretchFit styles add 1" of calf stretch.
- Marco Di Milano — True to size. Exotic leather vamps (ostrich, python) break in to a precise fit over time.
- Soto Boots — True to size. Broad square toe styles offer extra room in the toe box.
- Georgia Boot — True to size. Work boot styles available in D and EE widths.
